James Patterson and Romance

These two books were my holiday reads.

First Review:

Book Title: Sam’s Letters to Jennifer

Author: James Patterson

Pages: 281

Blurb: Have you ever opened a letter that completely changed your life?

When her beloved grandmother is hospitalised, Jennifer returns to the lakeside home where she spent a magical childhood. There she finds a package of letters addressed to her that tell of passion, intrigue and desire. This is the real tale of her grandmother’s life. It’s a shocking family secret, concealed for decades, and the most loving love story Jennifer has ever heard.

Then comes the biggest surprise of all. Jennifer lets her guard down for a moment and is overcome by exhilarating new emotions. It might come with an unbearable cost – but her grandmother’s letters make Jennifer think that love may help her find a way.

Review: This book I read in one sitting. It is that good. A great romance from James Patterson.

It is well written and is full of surprises. Jennifer has her guard up and is not interested in love. As she reads her Grandmas story she begins to realise that even though you may have been hurt once it is not a reason to give up on love completely. Jennifer does let her guard down but as is life it is not as simple as just loving again and being fully happy straight away. This book shows that happy endings come true but can be tinged with sadness.

This is a must read for anyone who loves romance and James Patterson books, he has created such loving characters and an amazing romantic setting.

Second Review:

Book Title: Suzanne’s Diary for Nicholas

Author: James Patterson

Pages: 310

Blurb: Katie Wilkinson has found the perfect man at last – but one day he disappears from her life, leaving behind only a diary for her to read.

The diary was written by a new mother, as a keepsake for her baby son. In it she touchingly recounts the initial romance between herself and the child’s father, and the unparalleled joy that motherhood has brought her. As Katie reads this moving account, it becomes clear that the lover who has left her is the same man as the husband and father in the diary. She reads on, filled with terror and hope as she struggles to understand what has happened – and whether her new love has a prayer of surviving.

Review: This is a truly amazing story. A true love story between mother and son, father and son and man and women. I loved the idea of a diary telling a story and what a great idea for a mother to write one to her baby.

This book is very well written and the plot is amazing as are all James Patterson’s plots. This had me in tears by the end so be aware if you go to read this, which I recommend doing. I read this in one sitting I loved it that much I could not put it down.

I will not give anything away but what I will say is that I was willing for all the characters to have their happy endings. James creates such real characters and scenes that your feel like you are right there in the action. I love the way that James users short chapters. In each he gives you just the right amount of new info without giving too much away and ends it on a cliff hanger so you have to read more.

James is one talented writer.
